The Vangassaye
The vangassaye is the first mandarin variety known at the meeting. It grows naturally in the South East, Lower Valley, Saint Philip. The locals sell them on the side of the road, attached to each other around a stick. It was formerly a country with very fragrant liqueur based on vangassayes. This variety is threatened by competition from other mandarin crops. Extensive research and testing from agricultural organizations allow the development of new citrus varieties. They are here, called after the producer "Clarina".
