Grenada

Grenada, the famed “Spice Isle of the Caribbean,” enchants visitors with its lush rainforests, pristine white-sand beaches, vibrant culture, and the intoxicating aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon, and chocolate.

At the heart of the island’s identity lies a storied rum heritage, rooted in 17th-century sugarcane plantations. Grenada’s rum legacy thrives through its remarkable distilleries:

  • River Antoine Estate (est. 1785): The Caribbean’s oldest operating water-powered distillery, where traditional methods endure. Using a waterwheel and pot stills, the estate produces its legendary overproof River’s Rum—bold, fiery, and often bottled at 69–75% ABV.

  • Clarke’s Court Distillery (est. 1937): Grenada’s largest distillery, located in St. George’s. Visitors can tour historic machinery before sampling Pure White Rum, innovative flavored blends, and aged selections for export.

  • Westerhall Estate: A former sugar plantation transformed into a museum and tasting destination—inviting guests to explore Grenada’s colonial history and savor its distinctive house-made rums.

  • Renegade Rum Distillery: A pioneering venture launched in 2022, fusing modern sustainability with terroir-driven cane cultivation. While currently closed to visitors, its limited-batch bottlings can be found locally.

Grenada’s rum journey extends far beyond production. Distillery tours are often paired with visits to cocoa estates, spice plantations, and breathtaking natural attractions, offering travelers a truly immersive, multisensory experience of the island’s heritage.
