Arehucas
Arehucas Rum is crafted by Destilerías Arehucas, founded in 1884 in the scenic town of Arucas near Las Palmas on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. Originally operating as Fábrica de San Pedro, the distillery swiftly rose to prominence, earning the prestigious title of Official Purveyor to the Royal House of Spain by 1892—a testament to its enduring commitment to quality.
Arehucas is the oldest continuously operating rum distillery in Europe. Its aging cellars hold more than 6,000 American oak barrels, some adorned with signatures from luminaries such as Willy Brandt, Plácido Domingo, and Julio Iglesias, reinforcing its storied reputation.
Arehucas rums are made from a blend of locally grown sugar cane—harvested from fields near Arucas and Pozo Izquierdo—and fine molasses. The distillery utilizes both column and pot stills, producing a versatile range of rums, from crisp whites to richly aged reserves.
The Arehucas portfolio features distinguished expressions such as:
Carta Oro (Golden Rum): The house classic, known for its smooth, balanced character.
Carta Blanca (White Rum)
Reserva Especial
Arehucas 7 Años
Añejo Reserva 12 & 18 Años
Ron Miel Guanche (honey rum) and Ron Caramelo (caramel rum): Unique specialty rums blending tradition with sweet, distinctive flavors.
Visitors are invited to immersive distillery tours, which include the historic aging cellars, fermentation halls, bottling line, and a dedicated museum, culminating in guided tastings at the enticing Rum Experience Centre.
