Ron Barceló’s story begins in1929, when Julián Barceló arrived from Mallorca in the Dominican Republic, founding Barceló & Co. in 1930 with a bold vision: to create “the best rum in the world.


”By 1950, his rums—Blanco and Dorado—had garnered national acclaim. In 1974, Miguel Barceló took the helm, launching Barceló Imperial six years later, a premium rum celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship and global accolades. By the 1980s, Barceló had become the Dominican Republic’s leading rum brand. 


The 1990s saw its expansion into Spain and more than 50 international markets, solidifying its global presence. In the early 2000s, Ron Barceló S.R.L. assumed international operations. 


In 2016, the brand achieved a milestone as the world’s first carbon-neutral rum, recognized under the UN’s Climate Neutral Now program. Today, Ron Barceló is the world’s most exported dark rum, available in more than 80 countries.
