Black Tot
Black Tot Rum draws inspiration from the legendary tradition of the Royal Navy’s daily rum ration—the “tot”—a practice that spanned from the early 1800s until its historic conclusion on “Black Tot Day,” 31 July 1970.
In 2010, Sukhinder Singh, owner of The Whisky Exchange, acquired the last remaining stocks of this legendary Navy rum—preserved in stone flagons—and crafted the commemorative blend “Black Tot – Last Consignment.” Just 3,000 limited-edition bottles were released, each offering a rare and authentic taste of the original Navy rum legacy.
Building on that storied legacy, Black Tot has expanded its portfolio to include:
Finest Caribbean Rum: a modern, vibrant blend of rums from Barbados, Guyana, and Jamaica, offering lively tropical fruit notes layered with rich chocolate and coffee flavors.
Historic Solera: Crafted with Caribbean-aged rums matured in PX and Oloroso sherry-seasoned barrels, then finished in a solera system, this expression delivers deep flavors of figs, plums, chocolate, and spice.
Master Blender’s Reserve (annual limited editions): Conceived as an ongoing tribute, each edition reveals a complex, evolving profile—for example, the 2025 release features aromas of licorice, dark chocolate, banana, orange, anise, and mint.
Black Tot blends honor the historic Royal Navy tradition of multi-country rum blending—now preserved and elevated through meticulously sourced, traceable origins.
