Dictador is a renowned Colombian luxury rum brand with more than a century of heritage. Founded in 1913 by Don Julio Arango y Parra and headquartered in Cartagena de Indias, the brand has evolved from a family-run operation into an internationally acclaimed producer of aged rums and collectible limited editions.
Dictador’s production stands out by using sugar cane honey—rather than molasses—as its base. The fermented honey is distilled using both copper alembic pot stills and modern continuous column stills, resulting in a blend of rich, aromatic distillates and lighter, refined spirits. These are then carefully blended and aged in a variety of oak barrels (ex-bourbon, sherry, port, and wine casks), with select rums utilizing the solera system to enhance consistency and depth.
