Doorly's

Doorly’s is a historic rum brand from Barbados, currently produced at the Foursquare Distillery and owned by R.L. Seale & Co. The brand traces back to Martin Doorly & Co., established in 1908 under the Rum Duty Act, and was initially known for Macaw rum, which was the first bottled rum exported from Barbados.


Doorly’s is produced using both pot still and column still distillation methods, which are blended and then aged in ex-bourbon American white oak casks. Some expressions also receive secondary maturation in Oloroso sherry or Madeira wine casks for added flavor complexity.


The Doorly’s range features both young-aged blends and premium sipping rums:


  • Doorly’s 3 Year Old — a white or "light-filtered" rum aged for 3 years in ex-bourbon casks, sometimes bottled at higher ABV (about 47%) or at standard strength. Made from a molasses base.


  • Doorly’s 5 Year Old — longer aged and more rounded, also molasses-based; suitable for mixing or sipping.


  • Doorly’s XO — double maturation: first in ex-bourbon casks, then finished in Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in enhanced richness, dried fruit, and spice notes.


  • Doorly’s 12 Year Old, 14 Year Old — older expressions with extended oak influence, sometimes finished in wine casks (such as Madeira). These variants offer greater complexity, featuring dried fruits, oak, spices, and notes of tropical or fruit flavors.

The flavor profile across the Doorly’s range highlights molasses sweetness, oak, vanilla, tropical fruits, toasted wood, and spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper. Dried fruit notes (figs, raisins), as well as hints of citrus or caramel, may also appear. The finish typically becomes longer, richer, and more complex with age.
