Pyrat
Pyrat is a distinguished Caribbean rum brand, most recognized for its XO Reserve expression, produced under the Patrón Spirits Company and Planters distillery. Pyrat rum is crafted from a blend of meticulously selected aged rums—some matured up to 15–16 years—sourced from several Caribbean regions, with a significant influence from Guyanese rum stocks. This approach yields a spirit that is both complex and approachable, appealing to enthusiasts seeking a unique, citrus-forward profile.
Production involves aging rum stocks in a combination of American oak and French Limousin oak casks, some of which are specially toasted to impart extra richness, layers of vanilla, and pronounced woody notes. Pyrat’s signature character leans into sweet-citrus flavors, particularly orange peel and orange essence, supported by caramel, molasses, honey, and gentle spices. The finish is smooth and persistent, typically featuring mild spice and a lingering burst of citrus or bitter orange peel.
