Botran Añejo Reserva is a blend of various rums from 5 to 14 years old. Botran's rums are aged in a combination of old and re-charred ex-American whiskey casks along with sherry and port barrels, creating all kinds of different flavor profiles for their master blenders to work with.
In the nose, we found banana and coconut flavors. The mouth brings you to a good slug of a caramel character. There's less overwhelming brown sugar character here than in the Solera, and the Reserva's finish is exquisitely smooth, rich with tropical flavors. It's a real winner of a rum and, like the Solera, also a truly impressive bargain
