Diplomático Reserva Extra Añejo

Diplomático Reserva Extra Anejo is a blend of rums between 2 and 8 years old. Reserva is a balance of pot and lighter column still rums, with some of the pot still rums being made from honey sugar. This is a truly exceptional sipping rum.

The nose is rich and full, with golden syrup, Demerara and a hint of treacle. Some caramelised cooked fruit aromas. Reassuringly weighty oak in the background - polished mahogany notes. Hint of cinnamon, over-ripe oranges or orange liqueur and bitter dark chocolate. On the palate, rich, without being sickly. Amazingly smooth, gentle texture - like being stroked with a silk glove. Chocolate velvetiness on the palate, with the creamy oak spices emerging again (as with the Anejo) alongside some citrus notes to counteract the syrupy sweetness. The finish is a sweet cocoa caress, with shimmering spices. Extremely classy stuff, with each element of flavour crystal clear and yet perfectly integrated.
