La Mauny Le Nouveau Monde
The Martinique distillery "La Mauny" is one of rum's best-known distilleries and enjoys an excellent reputation among connoisseurs worldwide. The history of the La Mauny distillery can be traced back to 1749. At that time, Ferdinand Poulain, the Earl of Mauny, reached the Caribbean island of Martinique, where he married the daughter of a farmer who specialized in sugar cane cultivation. With the "Le Nouveau Monde" (The New World), La Mauny has now composed a fine blend from 12 cuvées and 4 of the best vintages of the house. Rare, both elegant and powerful, elaborated in the purest tradition, it has been aged in oak barrels to reach its quintessence.
On the nose, the aged rum shows delicate notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, honey, and tropical fruits. The palate reveals flavors of vanilla, caramel, tobacco, and a hint of cedar. The aftertaste is long, spicy, and delicately sweet. A great rum!
