Oronoco Rum
Oronoco Rum is crafted from fresh-cut mountain cane for a natural smoothness. Two brothers, Roberto and Vicente Bastos Ribeiro, have spent more than 20 years refining a distillation process suitable to produce the smoothest rum in the world. With years of experience as caçhaca distillers and profound knowledge of distilling freshly cut mountain sugar cane, the Ribeiros have developed a distillate that raises the standard of fine rum. Oronoco is the first super-premium white rum made with Brazilian mountain fresh cane. Unlike most rum with a molasses base, Oronoco’s distinct quality results from freshly cut, unprocessed mountain cane juice. The Ribeiros insist on mountain cane, as they believe it yields a far superior taste. The result is a complex and flavorful cane harvested by hand and crushed within 24 hours of cutting. After cutting, the master blender carefully combines the fresh triple distilled cane juice with pure Brazilian mountain spring water, then mary them with a small amount of select aged rums. Before, it was lightly rested in Brazilian Amendoim wood casks for the flavor and to give it a well-rounded body long, smooth finish. In Brazil, on the mountain slopes of the Paraiba do Sul river valley, it is there that the perfect cane spirit is realized.
