Clément
Rhum Clément’s storied journey began in 1887, when Homère Clément—a visionary physician and local leader—acquired the Domaine de l’Acajou sugar plantation in Le François, Martinique. Clément soon became a pioneer of rhum agricole, producing rum from fresh sugarcane juice (vesou) instead of molasses, and setting the standard for vibrant, terroir-driven spirits.
The brand is deeply rooted in Martinique’s AOC Rhum Agricole framework, adhering to rigorous standards for cane varieties, fermentation, distillation, and aging, which guarantee authenticity and exceptional quality. While the original distillery (Habitation Clément) no longer manages all production, it remains the heart of aging, blending, and bottling. It is celebrated as a cultural landmark with a museum, lush gardens, and art exhibitions.
Clément boasts a diverse portfolio of acclaimed expressions:
Clément Blanc: A fresh white agricole rum, aged about six months in stainless steel before reduction—ideal for mixing, with vegetal and gently sweet aromatics.
Canne Bleue: A higher-proof blanc agricole renowned for its pronounced vegetal cane character and lively palate.
VSOP (Vieux 4 ans): Aged around four years in ex-Bourbon and French oak barrels, with notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, mocha, and salted toffee.
XO Rhum Vieux: Aged about six years, delivering flavors of brown sugar, dried fruits (dates, prunes), baking spices, and oak.
10 Year Rhum Vieux: Deeply aged for a decade, this expression offers a rich profile of roasted cocoa bean, honey, leather, cigar, and dark fruits.
15 Year Rhum Vieux: Exceptionally mature and full-bodied, with layered notes of bittersweet chocolate, figs, fruit jam, roasted nuts, and spice.
Clément remains a benchmark for aged rhum agricole—seamlessly marrying terroir, meticulous aging, and a proud heritage of Martinique craftsmanship.
