Elements 8
Elements Eight (often stylized as Elements 8 or [e]8 Rum) is a premium rum brand produced in Saint Lucia by St. Lucia Distillers, using molasses sourced from Guyana. The brand’s philosophy centers on eight essential elements of rum production: environment, cane, water, yeast, distillation, tropical aging, blending, and filtration.
Production & key features include:
Raw material: Molasses imported from Guyana (not fresh cane juice).
Yeast & fermentation: Three different yeast strains are used in separate batches to create flavor complexity.
Distillation: Multiple stills—including John Dore and Vendome pot stills and column stills—are used to produce different rum styles that are later blended.
Aging: Rum is aged in a tropical climate in ex-bourbon oak barrels. The “Gold” expression is aged for about six years, while the “Platinum” expression spends around four years in oak and is often filtered after aging.
Expressions/variants: Includes Gold, Platinum (white or nearly clear, aged and filtered), Spiced, and Cacao (infused with cocoa or chocolate notes), among others.
The range typically shows notes of tropical fruit, a rich molasses base, oak, and vanilla. The Gold version offers added richness, while Platinum is lighter and cleaner. The Cacao and Spiced variants feature additional notes of spice, cacao, and chocolate.
