Nestled in the Eastern Caribbean, Saint Lucia enchants with its dramatic Piton mountains, vibrant Creole culture, and a rum tradition that is as distinctive as it is diverse.
At the heart of this legacy stands St. Lucia Distillers, the island’s sole surviving distillery. Established in 1972 by merging the last sugar estates in Dennery and Roseau, it now thrives in the fertile Roseau Valley, surrounded by lush banana plantations.
With origins in local sugarcane plantations and now sourcing molasses from Guyana, St. Lucia Distillers employs state-of-the-art fermentation (24–45 hours) and a diverse array of stills—including two copper pot stills, a Vendome hybrid, and a Coffey column still—to craft its rums.
Signature expressions from the distillery include:
Admiral Rodney: A prestigious range of aged, column-distilled rums—named after historic ships such as Princessa, Royal Oak, and Formidable—showcasing remarkable clarity and refined complexity.
Chairman’s Reserve: Introduced in 1999 by “Chairman” Laurie Barnard, these blended rums (pot and column still) are prized for their balanced depth. Standout editions include Forgotten Casks, Legacy, and 1931.Bounty: The island’s beloved crowd-pleaser since 1972, this medium-bodied, column-distilled rum is versatile and perfect for cocktails.
Denros: A bold, unaged overproof rum (80% ABV), column-distilled and cherished by adventurous locals for its intensity.
Marigot Bay Cream Liqueurs: Crafted from Saint Lucian rum blended with cream and natural flavors, available in enticing variations such as chocolate coffee, spiced, banana, and coconut.
